RFD bases for local dyeing
Ready-for-dye (RFD / prepared-for-dye) greige-to-white bases to dye or finish in your own shade, close to your market.
Why buyers dye locally
Buying ready-for-dye and colouring it near your own market moves the colour decision to the latest possible point. You commit to cloth once and to shade later, which is what makes short, reactive colour runs and mid-season additions possible without holding finished stock in every colourway. It also puts shade approval physically close to the person signing it off.
The trade-off is that you take on the dyeing. RFD is prepared for that — scoured, bleached and stabilised so it takes colour evenly — but the finished result depends on your dyehouse as much as on the base.
What to check before you commit
Ask for the preparation detail rather than just the whiteness: how the cloth was scoured and bleached, its residual shrinkage, and its pH and absorbency, since those are what your dyehouse will actually react to. Run a lab dip on the specific lot before bulk — RFD is prepared to take colour evenly, not to guarantee your shade on your equipment.
If you would rather not dye at all, the same qualities can be dyed here instead; a fresh colour starts at 1,500 m per colour under 160 GSM and 3,000 m per colour at 160 GSM and above.
