Our approach to cookies

This site is built to use as few cookies as possible. We use one strictly-necessary mechanism to remember your privacy choice and — only if you consent — a single, privacy-conscious analytics tool. We do not use advertising or social-media pixels or cross-site tracking, and we do not run a Google Tag Manager container. Session replay (Microsoft Clarity) runs only with your consent, with typed input masked by default. Where Google Analytics 4 is enabled, we load Google’s gtag.js library, served from googletagmanager.com.

Cookie categories

• Strictly necessary — required for the site to work and to remember whether you have accepted or declined analytics. Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (not a tracking cookie). These are always active and need no consent.
• Analytics (optional) — cookies are set only if analytics is enabled and you have consented. They help us understand aggregate site usage, such as which pages are visited. Where Google Analytics 4 is enabled, its tag loads on every page, but it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device until you accept. With your consent we also load Microsoft Clarity for session replays and heatmaps; it sets the cookies _clck and _clsk and masks typed input by default.

We do not use marketing, advertising or profiling cookies. Where Google Analytics 4 is enabled, its advertising-related consent signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) stay denied for the whole session, whatever you choose about analytics. We additionally use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, first-party services served from this site’s own domain: they set no cookies, store no persistent identifiers and no personal data (a daily-rotating anonymised visitor hash is discarded within 24 hours), and the data collected is used for aggregate statistics only (such as page views and load times), so they operate independently of the consent banner.

Analytics provider

Consent-gated analytics uses a single page-analytics provider — either privacy-focused analytics (Plausible), which is cookieless, hosted in the EU and does not track you across sites, or Google Analytics 4 where enabled, which sets cookies and transfers usage data to Google (we configure it to minimise personal data) — plus, with the same consent, Microsoft Clarity for session replays and heatmaps (data processed by Microsoft; typed input masked by default). Plausible loads nothing until you have given consent. Google Analytics 4, where enabled, loads for every visitor in a consent-denied state and sets no cookies until you accept. Separately, cookieless aggregate measurement (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights) runs first-party from this site’s own domain, involves no cookies and stores no personal data; as with any web request, your IP address is processed transiently to serve it and is not retained.

Managing your choice

When you first visit, you can accept analytics or choose essential-only. You can change your decision at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, which reopens the banner, or by clearing this site’s storage in your browser.
